This MLK Day, visit historic Oakland Cemetery for a “behind-the-stones” tour of the cemetery’s 3.5-acre African American Grounds. Learn about the restoration work ongoing in this area, which has not undergone a large-scale hardscape and landscape restoration in more than 100 years. Meet a few of the residents who lie in rest at Oakland and who contributed to Atlanta’s earliest Civil Rights movements.
No reservations are required, and this tour is free and open to the public. Tour will start at the Visitors Center & Museum Shop located at the Bell Tower. Please arrive 10-15 minutes in advance of the scheduled start time.
