illumine 2025 Featured in Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Rough Draft Atlanta, and ArtsATL
Opening weekend of illumine 2025, presented in partnership with Cat Eye Creative, drew thousands of visitors to historic Oakland Cemetery—and it’s been lighting up the press ever since!
Jeff Dingler of ArtsATL and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) wrote, “Roaming through a cemetery at night might seem like a Halloween scare fest, but the historic Oakland Cemetery’s springtime art and light experience is the complete opposite,” in his article for ArtsATL and AJC.

In his review, Dingler praised this year’s event for its vivid transformation of the cemetery’s mausoleums and sculptures into glowing works of art. “In this ingenious way, the experience illuminates history and architecture with fresh art, digital projections and floral-inspired installations for the irises and other flowers that proliferate the burial grounds.”
Katie Burtkholder of Rough Draft Atlanta recapped the event in her article “Illumine returns to Oakland Cemetery with installations by Atlanta artists,” describing the setting as a “fluorescent night-time wonderland with interactive glowing art.”
We’re thrilled to see illumine 2025 receive glowing reviews, and even more excited to welcome everyone back to experience it for themselves this weekend, April 24-27.
