Día De Muertos

The traditional Day of the Dead festival hosted by the Consulate General of Mexico and the Institute of Mexican Culture will take place at Oakland Cemetery on November 2!

Visitors of all ages will learn about and experience a Day of the Dead festival through traditional activities such as folkloric dances, crafts, food, and altars honoring lost family and friends. Dress up for the occasion and participate in the Catrinas and Catrines contest for adults and kids. Registration will take place on the day of the festival.

Admission is FREE.

  • Oakland Cemetery is easy to get to by bike, public transit, or rideshare. We’ll have a bike valet available for cyclists. Taking MARTA? King Memorial Station is only a 7-10 minute walk from our Main Gate. From the station:

    • Exit to Decatur Street and head west (left) to Grant Street

    • Turn left on Grant Street and continue to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SE

    • Turn left onto MLK Jr. Drive — the main gates will be straight ahead

    Rideshare is strongly encouraged. Limited street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood. Please note: our visitor parking lot will be reserved for artists and vendors.
